Washington, D.C. — Special Aerospace Security Services, Inc. (SASSI) and Advanced Performance Consulting Group, Inc. (APCG) were awarded a contract to develop and deliver "Excellence in Security Management," a highly selective educational seminar for the Joint Security Training Consortium (JSTC). A jointly coordinated and funded initiative of the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community, the JSTC seeks to provide a cross-community response to several long-term issues associated with the training and professional development of security practitioners.
The "Excellence in Security Management" seminar is intended to help the JSTC meet its strategic objectives of building a superior security workforce that possesses the skills to effectively address the contemporary security environment and obtaining a recognized professional standing among the national security disciplines.
"Our audience is the next-generation of security leaders," said Mitch Lawrence, SASSI Vice President. "We're very excited about integrating SASSI's security expertise and APCG's management consulting expertise into a single, comprehensive training offering for top-performing security managers. The distinctiveness of this seminar and its best practices-based curriculum is attracting candidates from industry, defense agencies, and the military."
The interactive three-day seminar, developed by the SASSI/APCG team, will teach participants how to apply today's management practices to complex, integrated security programs and deal with unexpected problems and threats. The in-depth curriculum covers security in the business enterprise, strategic security planning, and effective leadership. Instructors are acknowledged security and management leaders, and the seminar format emphasizes experiential learning through hands-on applications, scenarios, team exercises, and coaching.
In mid-September, the JSTC "Excellence in Security Management" pilot seminar was successfully delivered in Northern Virginia. Subsequent offerings for fiscal year 2003 will be held in Washington, D.C., Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, and California.
