Individual Performance Management

Organizations are comprised of individuals, who are organized into progressively larger groups of teams and departments. Achieving organizational goals requires that each layer of the organization has clearly defined goals and expectations so that activities undertaken will be aligned with desired outcomes. Organizations often have well developed organizational goals, but fail to provide individuals with clear understanding of their concrete contribution to those goals.

APCG works with clients to clarify individual level results so that employees at all levels understand clearly what is expected of them. In addition, our approach ensures that both results and the means by which results are achieved are taken into account in evaluating employee performance. Holding employees accountable for both dimensions of performance introduces greater clarity and flexibility into the employee evaluation process, making it more likely that organizational goals can be achieved.

We see performance management as a tool that enables managers to achieve goals more effectively. To be a useful tool, managers and employees alike must learn to use it regularly as a guide for decision making. Ongoing conversations between managers and employees is therefore essential to understanding what works and does not work in pursuit of desired outcomes. We help clients develop the capability to utilize individual performance management as an effective tool that, counter-intuitively, reduces managerial burden while boosting employee morale.
