Workforce planning is a consolidated effort to enable an organization to match its human capital with the strategic needs for achieving its mission. It includes strategic competency needs assessment; current workforce gap assessment; strategic competency alignment; strategic planning for filling competency gaps through acquisition or development of individuals; and organizational development to create a structure that supports achievement of mission goals.
